  3. What Is the Difference Between 3-in-1 Decoiler Straightener Feeder and Split Type Machine

The 3-in-1 decoiler straightener feeder consists of an NC straightener feeder combined with a separate decoiling machine. The split type 3-in-1 machine consists of three independent machines. They look to have the same function, but in fact, they are used in different scenarios. Now, let's learn about the differences between them.

About Floor Space

The integrated design of the NC straightener and feeder saves space, which is its most direct advantage. The split-type 3-in-1 design requires space for each of the three machines themselves, as well as space for their placement. If the factory space is limited, the NC straightener feeder is a better choice.

About Straightening

Due to the limitations of its integrated structure, the leveling capacity of the NC leveling feeder is limited. Most of the time, it primarily handles medium or thin materials ranging from 0.3 to 6.0 mm. If needed, its top leveling rollers can be designed to be flip-up, which allows for better handling of softer materials. While some reinforced models can handle thicker materials from 6.0 to 12.0 mm, the results may not be ideal. The split type 3-in-1 machine offers more design options for handling thicker plates compared to the former, thus enabling it to effectively level thicker plates. However, it cannot be designed to be flip-up; a fixed structure is necessary to ensure a strong and stable leveling force.

About Feeding

After leveling, the NC straightener feeder machine can directly feed into the feeding rollers, preventing errors caused by material slippage and ensuring feeding accuracy. Regarding the split-type machine, a loop is designed between the leveler and the feeder. Although this increases the transmission distance between the two, it ensures feeding accuracy. Thick materials have greater tension and weight, making transmission more difficult. The function of the looper is to buffer, regulate the circuit, and store material. It ensures stable feeding and prevents material deformation and feeding interruptions.

About Operation

The compact design of the NC leveling feeder allows it to quickly complete loading and then continue working without much adjustment. Because the three-in-one split machines are spaced apart, adjustments must be made to each machine before loading can continue, which is relatively cumbersome. This makes it unsuitable for fast-paced production.

All in all, the 3-in-1 decoiler straightener feeder is more suitable for handling medium or thin materials, while the split type 3-in-1 machine is better suited for handling thicker materials. Although both can handle most of the same materials, choosing the more suitable machine will return better results. When making a selection, you should consider your specific needs.
