Difference Between Mechanical Release and Pneumatic Release of Coil Feeder
During feeding, the rollers clamp the coil to ensure stable and precise material delivery; during stamping, the rollers are in a released state. The coil feeder receives a signal from the press to perform the release action. The release methods of coil feeders are divided into mechanical release and pneumatic release. This article will help you understand the features and differences of these two release methods.
Working Principle
1. Mechanical Release
A mechanical-release feeder obtains the signal through a release bracket, thereby directly completing the release action. A release device is installed on the side of press slide. When the press presses down, the release device moves with the slide and hits the release bracket of the feeder.
(These are RUIHUI's mechanical release servo feeder RNC and pneumatic release servo feeder RNC-HA.)
2. Pneumatic Release
A pneumatic release feeder performs release actions by receiving electrical signals. The main components of the pneumatic system are the solenoid valve and the FRL unit. After receiving the signal, the solenoid valve opens or closes the spool, while the FRL unit provides clean and stable air. The FRL unit (components may vary by application) includes a Filter (F), Regulator (R) and Lubricator (L).
Capability Comparison
Mechanical release uses a direct mechanical linkage. It is stable, highly synchronized, and suitable for high-speed stamping. However, it requires installing a release lever on the press machines, which is not ideal for some large press machines, such as H-frame press machines.
Pneumatic release is affected by delays in electrical signals and air transmission. Compared to mechanical relaxation, it is more prone to fluctuations. However, it is easier to install and works with any machine capable of sending an electrical signal. This means it is suitable for most presses and can even be used together with shearing machines.
Overall, pneumatic-release feeders are widely applicable, but mechanical-release feeders perform better in high-speed and high-precision stamping. If you are interested in coil feeders or have any questions, feel free to contact us. Thank you for reading.
